The Devil's Company by David Liss Giveaway

Thanks everyone for entering my contest! Congratulations "Rita (drala625)!" You are my winner of The Devil's Company by David Liss! I've sent you an email. Please contact me within 72 hours :)

One of my lucky readers will win a brand new copy of The Devil's Company by David Liss. This novel was just published on July 7th, 2009 and I was fortunate enough to win one! However; I am pressed for time these days. It would be awful to let this book sit on my shelves! David included a letter thanking me for my support of his previous books and a synopsis to introduce "The Devil's Company." This book sounds so good! If you win, read and love this book...please spread the word!

Author "This is my third novel featuring the protagonist Benjamin Weaver, and it is probably my favorite of the three. It is certainly the one I had the most fun writing. Like its predecessors, it examines important issues in today's world - in this case, corporate power - through the lens of the 18th-century Britain. I hope you might consider spreading your enthusiasm about The Devil's Company to friends and family in person and online, whether it's through a personal blog or website, a social networking page, or sites that sell books. I hope this early gallery will be a small token of thanks for your enthusiasm and support over the years. I would love to hear from you so please let me know what you thought of The Devil's Company."

Review taken from Amazon Books Website.

"David Liss spins another rollicking tale of murder, blackmail, intrigue, espionage, and phaeton chases. I was caught in the action in the first few pages and could barely put the book down until I was done! Often times I peg the plot in a book like this quite a while before the ending, but this book kept me guessing right up to the end." ok, this is a first for me, literally and figuratively.

My tidbit,"David’s fourth novel, The Ethical Assassin (2006) is his first full-length work that is not historical fiction."

My tidbit is: a former encyclopedia salesman? Heh. Reminds me of the old Monty Python sketch.

Thanks everyone for sharing! I let David know I was holding this contest as well, so I am sure he enjoys reading them too. And I am learning a great deal about this author meanwhile. Someday I plan to sit down and read the entire Benjamin Weaver sequel.

Lee said...

Well, my tidbit is that he lives in San Antonio, he left his dissertation unfinished, and he writes mostly historic-based novels.

I've been looking for a good book to read and review on my blog, so I hope I win!

his first FAQ is:

QUESTION: Are you Jewish?

ANSWER: Yes. This question is the one I am most frequently asked. I figured I should answer it first.

Q: Are you a vegetarian?

A: Yes. I’ve made this decision on ethical grounds. Animals may be delicious, but I find it hard to participate in the kind of torture that happens on an industrial level. I strongly urge all of my meat-eating readers to learn more about factory farms and the ways in which animals are treated and to make decisions about what to eat based on this knowledge rather than on habit and taste.

David Liss put time in working with Marvel comics. My brother read comics as a teenage and I would look through them just to get the jist of it all. I like novels.
My college age daughter still has time to read and review books.

This definitely sounds like my kind of book! I've been reading since I was a real little girl (Thanks, Ma) and love it even more now. Only thing is, I wish I'd read your previous ones first. Does it matter? Should I try the library or a store like Barnes & Noble, Borders? Can't wait to get started. Thanks, S. & J.. johnws486@optonline.net or, sandysue1@optonline.net .
